About my practice:
Research has shown that feeling seen and understood by your mental health provider is by far the best indicator of long-term positive outcomes, so it’s important to find someone you like! I strive to create a safe space where you can show up as you are. I work with you to cultivate self-compassion and awareness so that you can accept and move through difficult times, while also celebrating your growth and strengths. With compassionate listening, empathy, and a touch of humour, I offer my support to your unique experience. My goal is to help you nurture the skills and inner resources that can help you live the life you want.
Together we will identify patterns and beliefs that at one time served the purpose of keeping you safe but no longer serve you. Through building self-compassion and identifying your core values, you can start making choices that are more aligned with the life you want to live. My approach is not “one size fits all.” I aim to collaborate with you toward self-discovery and growth in a way that feels authentic to you. No sitting back with a blank expression asking, “and how does that make you feel?” here. I am with you in the trenches, ready to acknowledge the messiness of it all.
My work with couples involves working with evidence-based modalities, informed by Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy and the Gottman Method. Using attachment theory, I work with couples to understand their negative interaction cycles and build deep understanding of themselves and each other. I also incorporate behavioural changes to stabilize the relationship, allowing deeper work to unfold. I work under the supervision of a licensed Psychotherapist and Couples and Family Therapist, who supports my work with clients.
