Looking for date ideas in Montréal? Whether it’s a first date with someone new or a special date night with your partner, here are some local date ideas to get the sparks going.
Ice cream lovers
Take your date for ice cream at La Diperie! You’ll enjoy each other’s company surrounded by great Montreal surroundings and some of the best ice cream dips in the city. On a nice summer’s day this is a great way to get to know each other in a fun, sweet way.
Cocktails on the canal
If you like being on the water and enjoying a great view, the Canal Lounge café is a great place to take your date. Enjoy a drink with your date on the lachine canal for a 5 à 7 or go a bit later for great cocktails and snacks. It’s the first of its kind in Montréal and completely different from any other bar/lounge in the city.
Romance on the water
Go on a personal boat ride with your date along the Lachine Canal. You can take it easy on a 2-person paddle boat or challenge yourselves a little bit on a 2-person canoe along the canal. You can get to know each other on the romantic waterway and see a little bit of history while you paddle. Following that, you are minutes away from Atwater Market and the Old Port of Montréal where your date can continue with great food and cocktails.
Be enchanted by love and beauty at the botanical gardens. Enjoy a nice walk through the main exhibition greenhouse, do some birdwatching, or watch a show in the gardens on Sundays together. This peaceful, serene, atmosphere will help keep your date jitters in check and let you enjoy the conversation.
If you feel the need to keep your hands busy on a date, book a cooking or cocktail class at Ateliers & Saveurs in the Old Port of Montréal. You will both have a great time getting to know each other and each other’s cooking skills, or lack-thereof, in a fun and low pressure environment. If the date goes well, you may get the chance try your recipe out a second time!
There is so much to do in Montréal and so many perfect places to take your date depending on the type of atmosphere you are searching for. Don’t worry too much about the location or activity however. What’s important is that you are present, open, and willing to connect.
