Montreal Therapy Center is a great place to grow, thrive, and to gain experience. Being an intern for just over one year, the center facilitates a strong sense of support that enhances my professional development. Building and acting on the centre mission and values, I greatly appreciate the commitment to provide diversified and equitable access to mental health in our community. Amir Shoham Ph.D. Candidate for the Psychotherapy Permit issued by the Order of Psychologists of Quebec
I have now been an Intern at the Montreal Therapy Centre for a few months and I can say with confidence that this is a great place to work! Everyone is very welcoming, kind, and helpful which helps to create a lovely atmosphere. I also really appreciate the ability to choose my clients and therefore the number of hours I work, as well as the flexibility to either work from home or book an office space. Finally, as someone who believes strongly in accessible care, I am glad to have the opportunity to provide sliding scale fees.
While doing my Master’s at Yorkville University, in counseling psychology, I can say the leadup to the internship was probably the most daunting experience I’ve been through on my scholastic journey. All the “unknowns” leave you so fearful for what’s to come. After my first meeting with Rebecca and a few of the other team members here at The Montreal Therapy Center however, each and every fear disappeared. At 39 years old, I’ve worked in many different industries, and have yet to meet such a warm and welcoming team. I couldn’t of asked for a better environment to help me on my counselling journey. Being a student I feared I lacked the experience to go out into the real world. The MTC helped reassure me that this wasn’t the case. They go above and beyond for their interns, providing all the necessary supervision and information a novel intern needs. Someone is always available to answer questions, so I never felt alone or lost. My favorite part about being a team member here are the plethora of workshops and trainings always available to us. I am so grateful to have had this experience and I’m proud to now be a professional counsellor who is part of this amazing team.
I started off with Montreal Therapy Center in 2019 as an intern working towards my psychotherapy permit. MTC provided me with a sense of community, flexible hours, clinical supervision and collegial support that I needed to optimize my learning and clinical expertise. I have since received my psychotherapy permit and have started my private practice. MTC continues to support my growing psychotherapy practice with adults, couples and families by providing me with unlimited and varied types of client referrals , and professional development and networking resources. I cannot say enough about how privileged I feel to be part of such an amazing team !
I have been in the Montreal therapy center for a year and 8 months as an intern in psychology to obtain permission from the O.P.Q by way of equivalences. And currently, as a psychologist and psychotherapist, what I have liked the most is that I have the autonomy to manage my own agenda, to choose my clients according to my expertise and availability. We have the possibility of participating in work teams according to topics or problems of interest where we update knowledge, exchange experiences, intervention methods and follow-up on clinical cases. It is the ideal place for colleagues starting their career or wishing to expand their clinical practice, who are looking for a center of renowned reputation and with a great administrative support team, to carry out their practices and obtain guidance at the supervisory level.
I initially joined MTC as a Counselling Intern, in order to graduate from the Master's program in counselling psychology at McGill. I always felt supported by my supervisor and the amazing administrative team. After graduation, I was grateful to have the opportunity to continue my professional growth as a Licensed Counsellor and to pursue the requirements for the psychotherapy permit. I found everything I need in MTC: great support from our team; the chance to help those who struggle to access mental health services; the possibility to target my practice according to my skills and professional interest due to the huge variety of client's presenting goals; schedule flexibility; group supervision; continuing education; option to use their offices... just everything! Thank you, MTC for being a key part of my career, and life!
I did my psychology internship at Montréal Therapy Center in 2019 and still continue to work in collaboration with the center. It has been a wonderful experience, for which I am immensely grateful! It is a wonderful group in which you can always find a ready hand to help and explain, something that is very much appreciated especially at the beginning of the internship. They have meetings with specialists, which help the continuous professional growth. The flexibility of schedules, the possibility of selecting cases according to your specialty, and the facility offered by the sliding scale to be able to help people with low resources, are factors that I greatly appreciate.
